Interesting when we filmed these small snakes, especially as it is done almost at a macro level. On REPTILE AWARENESS DAY, 21st October, presenting moments from with one of India's Shieldtail snake species, originally in UHD 4K. Non-venomous, they are small sized snake, with a short cylindrical body that undulates well on soil as can be seen in the video. The body is covered with glossy smooth scales, and a coloration of dark brown to glossy black with more fine yellow markings. They give off a rainbow sheen as can be seen in the video, especially in the last shot. They are species found in India especially in the Ghats. The name ‘Shieldtail’ comes from their angled cut tails that terminate in disk-like shields. This is a Phipson's Shieldtail, one of the 45 known species of Shieldtail snakes in the world, of which 30 are endemic to India and 15 to Sri Lanka.

Shieldtails are known to be burrowers, they live mostly underground and on ground level with small critters that can also be seen in the video. They are highly active after heavy rain and are usually found in loose soil among plant roots or under decaying vegetation, and feed on earthworms and arthropods.
